Well, Phillies, now we find out…blog 33

Tonight the Phillies start September with 6 game lead for the NL East division. However, we know that isn’t enough. This team HAS to get hot and get the top two seeds for the playoffs. We saw what happened last year against the Mets, and honestly I’m not sure about this team.

I love the Phillies don’t get me wrong, but I’m not sure about them. All year they have been playing with an unfinished business approach,  and I appreciate that. However that approach sometimes it seems, makes them play very tight. Lately they have been playing good baseball, but with the schedule turning into September,  they are going to be playing the Brewers, Dodgers, Mets and the Royals in that mix. These are series they have to win. The games versus Marlins, Diamondbacks,  Twins are important too. To get one of those top seeds, they have to get a series win against most if not all these teams.

I know in 2022 they were hot, but in 2024 they just couldn’t turn it on. I’d rather have that bye than to go play a 3/5 series again. I don’t want that tightness to present itself at the worst time.

Eagles are starting this week and a lot of focus will be taken off the Phils, but for them to make it a TRUE RED OCTOBER in Philly again, they have to play like they are the number 1 team in this town.
