Ok, before we get to the 2nd half let discuss the good.
Special teams are truly special. I don’t recall the Eagles special teams unit making such an impact as they have this year. I know teams are having an issue catching those knuckle ball kicks, but they will figure it out. The unit as a whole however is truly becoming, well, special.
Defense don’t care. They line up and just say next play. Thier youth is a positive for that. Where they are struggling with is the discipline needed at times. It’s hard with these taunting rules, I get that. What I’m talk about is being goated into a situation. When Baker was talking smack to Q, you know Q was going to retaliate and get flagged. That’s inexperience, thats our youth taking over of the emotions. I’m sure Vic Fangio will get on that real quick.
Offense, well here is what I don’t get. I watch all these teams in the NFL, and plays keep happening one after another. Our team just can’t make an open WR, the run game is not there. Ok is it personnel, I doubt it, is it a missed block, or not communicating, or not holding a block long enough, or missed assignments. The good news that these things can be corrected, the bad news is that it’s week 4 and they haven’t been corrected.
I think Nick Sirianni is a very good coach and motivator, but he needs to get with the other coaches and figure out what needs to ge done. They have some softer opponents the next 4 weeks and it’s a great opportunity to figure this all out.
Footnote AJ can’t write a tweet like he did, it just makes energy used for the wrong purposes. I have all the confidence this team will get it all correct. Hopefully, the fans and talk show hosts give them that understanding as well. My guess, I doubt it.
What do you think….
