Ok – was it a horribly officiated game? Yes. However we cant blame this loss on them. We blame this loss on the coaches, who called a horrible game, we blame this loss on the offensive line, who are not the best line in football, we blame the players for not executing, missed signals and assignments everywhere.
People will say to me – well you don’t play the game, you don’t know. As I do everything in my life, I refer to real life situations. In my 9 to 5 job, I have a HUGE responsibility to deliver the best I can 100% of the time. One little slip up will alter a person for the rest of their lives. I am under an enormous amount of stress and I can’t simply say – I have to do a better job. No we educated ourselves to be the best at what we do. If you have to do a better job after all the years doing this, then that means your loosing focus, you’re not bought in, and you lost that passion.
Everyone has to look in the mirror on this team. If I did only 10% of the mistakes you do these past 5 weeks, I would be unemployed. You are the best of the best, shout it out loud. You need to make changes then make changes. If the coaches are not listening, MAKE them listen.
Nothing is worse than getting up and going to work and hating what we are about to do for the next 8 hours that day. The Philadelphia Eagles are too damn talented to be struggling as they have been these past 5 weeks. 26 can’t break a run, 11 can’t get open, 1 holds on to the ball too long, the team can’t get on the same page. These are all excuses of application.
They are not applying themselves as they should and once one brick is off in the foundation – down falls the building. Coaches you are not listening, I am not talking about listening to the players. I am talking about listening to yourselves. You know what is wrong, but you refuse to let it out for what it would look like in the press. These are very tough decisions I know, but if you can’t have a crucial conversation with yourselves, then what are we doing here.
We are all to be held accountable, my staff makes a mistake, I take the hit, but I have that conversation with them, so it doesn’t keep happening. However, if it does, then it’s time to move on. Leaders lead, they make new trails, they invite new ideas, they are ever changing and adapting.
This season’s struggles are on those leaders refusing to make the needed decisions to correct the issues we all see. Talent takes you so far, execution takes you so far, but communication and being one makes you a team. Last year was last year and for the most part you figured it all out. Super Bowl Champions!
This is a new team and the Brady Patriots, and Mahome Chiefs all dealt with the same adversities, but they were accountable and made tough decisions when they needed to. It’s up to the entire Philadelphia Eagles to decide where is this going. Adapt to what you can do or pretend to do things you can’t and keep blaming something else for the reasons why.
What do you think…Let’s talk
