Philly needs a win

Its been a dismal start of 2026 in the Philadelphia sports world. Eagles are out in the 1st round. Phillies are getting hosed by the Mets. Sixers can’t win at home. The Flyers just can’t win. Sure is different than a year ago. But, we can’t look back we have to reach ahead so lets try.

Best the Eagles lost early in the playoffs. It forces them to make the necessary changes to return to glory. I don’t think the OC is the only problem that needs correcting. Changes need to be made with special teams and on defense. A hard look is needed at every position. What I do like is that the Eagles are interview many possible candidates. They are getting ideas which will hopefully translate to better schemes and use of personnel. More to come on this.

The Phillies are not done quite yet. They bring back Bader, which would be awesome, or they just roll with Crawford at center. Its a huge decision and gamble to go the Crawford route. They must know something more or see something different. They believe that he is a singles hitter with great range at D. I can’t fault them on losing out to the Mets. Bichette getting a buy out after every year is insane. I do know that he will be villain number 1 at the bank this year, that will be fun. We have to wait and see what happens over the next few weeks.

The 76ers are showing some grit. I am happy its Maxey’s team now, not Embiid. That being said they are missing a piece so they can be more consistent. They need a more reliable wing man, depth and versatility. Can someone just take Paul George off the 76ers hands. PLEASE!!!

Now its time for the orange and black. 2-6 in January so far. The good news is that this year the Metropolitan Division is pretty close. A nice little run can get them right back in it. That though is the issue. I always say that you know the Flyers around the start of February. They are in need of a true #1 center, a top-pairing defense and high-end skill players. The trade deadline will show us how close or far management believes this team is.

So where is the good news you ask? The weather, nope.

The good news is that each team is in a period that could make or break the next few years. The Eagles are on a hunt to change their team for the better. Sirianni and Howie work well together. They right the ship promptly. I believe 2026 will be a fun year.

The Phillies can drastically change their slugging team into a hitting team with a simple addition or trade. Remember Casty, Bohm are still on this team. A trade is looming.

The 76ers are the 6th seed and only 2 points from the 3rd seed. Again they are growing every game. Maxey is becoming a true leader and an elite player. Get him one more guy who is a decent perimeter shooter and somehow unload PG, you got something there.

Flyers, well, all I can say is that Tocchet is a strong-willed person. He is not afraid to stand up to management. He wont just say things to say them. If they suck he will say so.

Look its not great, but its better than Cleveland….
