Okay, I know I’m reaching here. Looking back at this week, well it was promising. 76ers had a nice win and the team is looking better and better every time they are on the court.
The Flyers after a dismal stretch earlier in the month had some nice wins in their road trip. If not for that horrible night in Utah, it would have been a great road trip. Especially with giving the Avalanche a loss at home 7-3. Nice work.
The Phillies did re-sign JT and in all honesty they needed to. He is one of the better catchers in baseball. Offensively, he isn’t the same. Nonetheless, the guy calls a good game. He knows how to get the most out of the pitchers. I’ll take that. Besides that Bichette deal the Mets gave him is god awful. The Phillies still have another move or two coming, just need to see what that will be.
The Eagles, oh the Eagles. I don’t care if its a big name, I don’t care where they are from. I just care that they are an outside pair of eyes. They can challenge the current coaches and players with new innovative thoughts and schemes. I know that some say its an issue for the new OC to keep Jeff Stoutland. That’s a very tough decision. The man is a legend. Still, you don’t become a legend if you are not open to discussion and new practices. I can can assure you he isn’t coaching the same scheme he was coaching 20 years ago. I am sure he is open to change and adding a few new wrinkles in his approach. He is not stubborn to growth and he will do whatever for his players and team. He has always shown that.
I’ll tell you what I feel is the concern for the new OC. The fans. Imagine you are interviewing for a job. You know the last guy who had the job had his house egged. Had a Golf center hang his face up so people hit golf balls at him. This coming with the team being 11-6 and NFC East Champions. It has become a little insane in this town with expectations. I have written about this before. The city is spoiled, they want a Super Bowl every year now. They have never felt the lean years of 6-10 or 4-12. No a lean year to them is a first round loss in the playoffs. I want a Super Bowl just as much as anyone. Not, but at the expense of a coaches family and safety. That’s just not right. So let’s calm down out there a little bit. Stop scaring people away.
