Stout out, and it’s okay.

Life changes and adapts to the terrain it walks upon. Jeff Stoutland has stepped down as the OL coach. He will always be a legend in this town. I believe every player who ever knew him would say he was their best coach they ever had. He was more than a coach and we thank him for being incredible at his job and for the person he is.

In sports, everything changes almost on a daily basis. I remember saying to myself when Joe Montana was a Chief, that nothing was sacred.

So be it with Stoutland. Everyone wanted an innovative new scheme. A fresh system.  Well you have a coach who has done it his way all these years, and was going to be asked to coach different approaches and schemes. I would step down too. Wouldn’t you?

I understand people will have issues with this, but you honestly can’t.  The organization decided to go towards a new scheme that will involve many changes. We don’t know what it will be. However, this only assures you that the changes are going to be significant.  Stoutland has been here since Chip Kelly days. Has molded some great O linemen, and he is Philly true. He made the decision to step down. He doesn’t want to continue in whatever capacity the team wanted him too. Let’s respect that.

Before I end this let me just mention some names….Tra Thomas, John Runyan, and even Shawn Andrews for a bit. All were great O linemen in their day, coached by a beloved coach at that time. Juan Castillo.

It will be okay.
